Two-Photon Sensitive Coumarinyl Photoremovable Protecting Groups with Rigid Electron-Rich Cycles Obtained by Domino Reactions Initiated by a 5-exo-Dig Cyclocarbopalladation

چکیده

We herein report the design, synthesis, and photophysical characterization of extended rigid coumarinyl derivatives showing large two-photon sensitivities (?a?u ? 125 GM) at 740 800 nm. To efficiently synthesize these complex photoremovable protecting groups (PPGs), we used step-economic domino reactions. Moreover, those new PPGs display unique bathochromic shifts (?100 nm) uncaging subproducts as a result formation more conjugated fulvene moiety.

Two-photon sensitive protecting groups operating via intramolecular electron transfer: uncaging of GABA and tryptophan.

Improved photo-labile protecting groups, with high sensitivity to two-photon excitation, are needed for the controlled release of drugs, as tools in neuroscience and physiology. Here we present a new modular approach to the design of caging groups based on photoinduced electron transfer from an electron-rich two-photon dye to an electron acceptor, followed by scission of an ester to release a c...

Photoremovable protecting groups: reaction mechanisms and applications.

Photolabile protecting groups enable biochemists to control the release of bioactive compounds in living tissue. 'Caged compounds' (photoactivatable bioagents) have become an important tool to study the events that follow chemical signalling in, e.g., cell biology and the neurosciences. The possibilities are by no means exhausted. Progress will depend on the development of photoremovable protec...

BODIPY-derived photoremovable protecting groups unmasked with green light.

Photoremovable protecting groups derived from meso-substituted BODIPY dyes release acetic acid with green wavelengths >500 nm. Photorelease is demonstrated in cultured S2 cells. The photocaging structures were identified by our previously proposed strategy of computationally searching for carbocations with low-energy diradical states as a possible indicator of a nearby productive conical inters...

Photoremovable protecting groups as controlled-release device for sex pheromone.

Photoremovable protecting groups (PRPGs) were demonstrated as a delivery device for controlled release of pheromone under both UV light (≥350 nm) and direct sunlight irradiation. In the present work, (Z)-11-hexadecen-1-ol (sex pheromone of Chilo infuscatellus Snellen) was chemically caged by four different photoremovable protecting groups (7-hydroxy-4-hydroxymethylcoumarin, 1-pyrenemethanol, 9-...

The p-Hydroxyphenacyl Photoremovable Protecting Group

This review is intended to provide the reader who is interested in the historical development of the recent research on photoremovable protecting groups, phototriggers, and “caged” compounds and to provide some insight into the genesis of our entry into the field through our most recent discoveries. Several other investigations have paralleled our development of a photoremovable protecting grou...
